The Police Authority approved its plan and budget for 2010/11 in February 2010. The governance arrangements to manage these are laid out in this document. Following consultation this has been reviewed and updated from the previous Annual Governance Statement and amendments are highlighted in italics for members’ information.

This Guide provides a framework for local discretion for the appointed Lead Member and the NPU Inspector in terms of the means of engaging with local people, communities, individuals, representatives of local interests, local groups and meetings with a safer and stronger communities focus, including jont meetings, as appropriate - having full regard to the "Staffordshire Police Authority and Force Joint Community Engagement Guide".

This guide is designed to be a starting point for all Police Authority members and Force officers and staff in Staffordshire Police to use when considering the most effective methods to use to engage with groups within the communities they serve at a local level. The guide is based upon extensive internal consultation with staff from neighbourhood policing teams across the county who identified the most effective engagement methods currently in use and how best to make use of them.

To make a complaint against any member of the Police Authority, you will need to complete the Complaints Form and provide relevant evidence to substantiate your complaint.

Police Authority Corporate and Business Plan 2009/10 (PDF - 460kb)  (Opens in new window)

The Corporate and Business Plan is a separate document from the three-year Strategy and Plan and seeks to set out in a cogent fashion a statement of the Authority’s vision, what it does, how it does it and how it seeks to improve, together with the Authority’s proposals and priorities for the current financial year. This is a relatively short document, setting out, in straightforward terms, information about the Authority and its priorities for the forthcoming year.

This document replaces the original Environmental Policy & Strategy, launched in April 2008. It captures the current issues relating to the environment, climate change and carbon management. It also sets out targets and actions for the next three years.

The role of an Independent Custody Visitor is an important one and enables volunteers, appointed from the local community, to observe, comment and report on the conditions under which persons are detained at Police Stations.
