In an emergency, where life is in danger or a crime is in progress, call 999.
Independent custody visitors are members of the local community who visit police stations unannounced to make an independent check on the wellbeing of people being held in custody.
They are not involved in counselling.
Staffordshire Police Authority needs more volunteers to carry out this vital role.
Applications are welcomed from volunteers irrespective of their gender, ethnic origin, religious belief, sexual orientation or disability.
