Who we are
Our members
The Authority has seventeen members, nine Councillor Members and eight Independent Members. Together they ensure that the Authority fulfils its statutory functions, the primary one being to ensure an effective and efficient Staffordshire Force.
The Authority appoints its Chair and Vice-Chair for a one-year term every June/July. Each member agrees to adopt the Authority's Code of Conduct and Anti-Discrimination Code of Conduct and complete a Register of Interest each year. The Chair and Vice-Chair of the Authority for 2011/12 is David Pearsall and Peter Vigurs respectively.
Authority members are allocated membership of at least two of the Authority’s principal committees each year, together with lead roles, membership of the nine Community Safety Partnerships and links to their local policing teams.
Police Authority members also consult with their local communities and lead consultation and engagement in their area.
