Key Duties and Responsibilities
- To undertake clerking duties for principal committees (including the Human Resources Committee, the Custody Visitors Committee and the Equlaity and Diversituy Joint Board) within the Authority’s governance structure, including the drafting of agendas, reports and minutes for their meetings.
- To be the Administrator of the Authority’s statutory Independent Custody Visiting Scheme and ensure its ongoing success and development.
- To be the Authority’s principal and day-to-day point of contact on all matters pertaining to the Authority’s duties and responsibilities in respect of custody visiting and equality and diversity.
- To lead on the ongoing development of all aspects of the Independent Custody Visiting Scheme (ICVS) including (i) recruiting new Independent Custody Visitors, (ii) initial induction training, (iii) ongoing development training, (iv) liaison and communication with key Force personnel, (v) engagement with ICV colleagues at regional and national level and (vi) supporting the Authority’s lead members in fulfilling their responsibilities in relation to custody visiting.
- To be the key point of contact for the Authority’s equality and diversity policies and Scheme including (i) ensuring effective working with relevant Force personnel and (ii) supporting the Authority’s lead member on diversity.
- To undertake administrative and support services and tasks related to the Authority and its committees and panels etc to enable the Secretariat to perform its roles and responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
- To be a principal point of contact for enquiries and requests for assistance from Authority members.
- To support members in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities
- effectively and to participate in the development of improved information flows for members.
- To undertake efficient and effective follow up procedures for dealing with and implementing decisions and recommendations of the Authority and its committees etc.
- To support members, the Chief Executive, the Deputy Chief Executive and the Principal Officer in researching, as appropriate, relevant information and documents.
- To promote effective communications and liaison with partners and volunteers including the promotion of the Authority’s commitment to trust and confidence.
